What is Sugaring?

A traditional ancient Egyptian method of hair removal, sugaring involves using a 100% natural paste to remove hair from its root. The paste is made up of lemon, sugar, and water and is safe, natural, and uses no chemical additives. Sugaring is considered the most effective method of hair removal for all hair textures and skin types. It is gentle enough for delicate skin and can be applied on any body part. Sugaring doesn't stick to the top layer of the skin, it doesn't pull at live skin cells, instead, it removes the hair from the root, making it especially effective for ingrown or curly hair. The re-growth is slower than other hair removals and with regular treatments can lead to permanency.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What should I do to prepare for my sugaring appointment? Your hair should be at least 1/4th of an inch (an uncooked grain of rice) long for best results. Anything shorter than that and I will attempt to extract it, but a follow up appointment might be needed. Please come showered and do not apply lotions, oils, deodorant, fragrances, etc. to the skin on the areas to be sugared prior to your service. Make sure to exfoliate your skin, but not 24 hours prior to your service to avoid and sensitivity.

What is a typical maintenance schedule? It is best to reschedule every 3-6 weeks. The best results are achieved when sugaring is done as a maintenance.  This way you have less pain each service and less hair each service.

Can I shave between appointments? As tempting as it is to get rid of the stubble that grows in between appointments, shaving is counterproductive to sugaring. Hair grows in separate cycles and by shaving you ensure a more uneven result. Shaving will make your hair feel coarse and can cause more irritation and ingrown hairs. Lastly, shaving will make your next sugaring appointment more painful.

Can I still be sugared if I am on my period? Yes, however you may be more sensitive in the few days leading up to your period and the first few days of your period. Some clients take an Ibuprofen 30 minute prior to their appointment.

Is sugaring during pregnancy safe? Yes absolutely it is! My pregnant clients were able to come in throughout their whole pregnancy, but keep in mind that you might feel more sensitive.

What are contraindications for sugaring? If you are taking medications that thin the skin (such as Retin-A), blood thinners, or medications that cause you to be sun-sensitive (Example: Accutane, Differin, Renova) please have your doctor clear you for sugaring. Sugaring cannot be done over moles, cold sores or broken skin. If you just received a chemical peel or microdermabrasion to your face or body, please wait at least 7 days before getting sugared.

What is a Vajacial? A Vajacial an add on treatment after Brazilian Sugaring. It includes extractions, a hydrogel masque designed for the bikini line and vulva to help hydrate and heal skin, Cyro sticks to help reduce inflammation and calm stressed skin, and finishing with High Frequency to oxygenate and protect skin from bacteria and irritation. Your skin will feel smooth, refreshed and relaxed after this treatment.

Post care Sugar instructions:

  • 24 hours after your service, stay clean, cool and free from friction.

  • 24 hours after your service refrain from strenuous activity that might get sweat/bacteria on the freshly sugared area. This includes working out and or sexual activity. This may increase the chances of ingrown hairs.

  • Please don’t suntan for about 48 hours after you’ve been sugared. You are freshly exfoliated and will want to avoid sun damage and burning.

  • 48 hours after being sugared start your daily exfoliation and moisturizing on the sugared area to avoid ingrown hairs.

What is Brow Lamination? Brow Lamination is a semi-permanent treatment that realigns the direction of brow hair and creates an instant look of added volume, fullness and fluffiness! Lasting 4-6 weeks, Brow Lamination is a solution for clients with stubborn hair growth, unruly brows, or brows that do not stay in place. Paired with an optional Brow Shaping and/or Brow Tint, Brow Lamination can work wonders and eliminate the need for daily maintenance, even for clients with existing Microblading or Micro-pigmentation.

Brow Lamination is not suitable if you have/are:

  • Short, coarse brows that can not be brushed up at all.

  • Pregnancy or nursing

  • Eye Infections/Inflammation

  • Hypersensitive Skin

  • You are allergic to hair dyes or have sensitivities to chemicals

  • Have diabetes or autoimmune disease

  • Currently using Renova, Differin, Tazorac, Retin-A, Retinol, Accutan

What is Brow Henna? Henna is all an all natural, vegan dye that is applied very similarly as tint. The main difference is Henna doesn’t use a developer to open the hair shaft and color from the inside out. Instead, it coats the hair and has the ability for greater white and grey coverage. The color is richer and will last longer than regular tint. Depending on your skin type, the Henna will leave a stain on the skin for up to a week. With the defined lines created with the Henna color, it will appear as though your brows are filled in! This enhances the depth and shape of the brow. They will be the most bold day 1-3, and once the tint on the skin begins to fade, you are left with richly colored brows for 4-6 weeks!
